The first Covid-19 Lockdown months severely restricted us in terms of travel. The memories and feelings of past journeys, in particular, have become especially valuable during this time. They serve as an emotional reminder and are also souvenirs and triggers of longing.
I related this longing and the emotions associated with it – which only became stronger due to the travel restrictions – to myself and my planned trip to Mallorca.
The result is a wide-ranging series of images created through a personal exploration of the theme of not travelling, as well as travelling in one's head.
My final product shows 30 different postcards. A traditional way to send home greetings from afar, to those left behind. My cards with personal memories and yearnings were sent by post to Mallorca in order to carry out the journey of my dreams – to the place I could not physically visit.
